MTDLite Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 13 July 2026
1. Who we are
MTDLite is provided by Tricept Limited ("we", "us", "MTDLite"), a company registered in England and Wales, company number 6534450, registered office Imperial House, Harley Place, Bristol, BS8 3JT.
2. What MTDLite does — and doesn't do
MTDLite files Making Tax Digital Income Tax Self Assessment (MTD ITSA) quarterly updates on your behalf, for tax year 2026-27 onwards, for self-employment and UK property income sources.
MTDLite explicitly does not: - Submit your Final Declaration (year-end tax return) — this remains your responsibility, or your accountant's, separately - Provide tax advice, or advise on what income or expenses to include - Check, verify, or correct the figures you submit - File MTD for VAT, or handle any tax obligation other than MTD ITSA quarterly updates
You remain fully responsible for the accuracy of everything submitted through MTDLite. MTDLite files the figures you provide, in the format HMRC requires — it does not review, endorse, or take responsibility for their accuracy. This applies whether you enter the figures yourself or someone with a linked profile does so on your behalf.
3. Accounts and linked profiles
- You must be 18 or over to create an account.
- One account (the "account holder") may manage multiple linked profiles — for example, a spouse or an accountant's clients. Each linked profile authorises their own HMRC connection independently, using their own Government Gateway login; the account holder is responsible for the accuracy of any filing submitted on a linked profile's behalf.
- You are responsible for keeping your login details secure.
4. Pricing and credits
- MTDLite operates on a pay-as-you-go credit system: £5 per credit, one credit per successful quarterly filing.
- Minimum purchase: 2 credits (£10).
- A credit is only deducted when HMRC accepts a filing. A rejected submission does not cost a credit.
- There are no refunds for unused credits
- Prices may change; we will give notice of any change before it applies to future purchases.
5. Your responsibilities
- You must ensure the figures you submit are accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge.
- You must keep your own records supporting the figures submitted, as required by HMRC generally.
- You remain responsible for your own compliance with all MTD ITSA obligations, including your Final Declaration, even where MTDLite has handled your quarterly updates.
6. Service availability
We aim to keep MTDLite available and functioning, but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by HMRC's own systems being unavailable or other failures outside of our control.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law: - MTDLite's liability is limited to the fees you have paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to a claim. - We are not liable for any penalties, interest, or other consequences arising from inaccurate figures you submitted, or from HMRC's own processing of a submission.
8. Data protection
See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your personal data.
9. Termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account for breach of these terms, non-payment, or suspected fraudulent use. Any account not used for 12 months may be closed in which any data or credits remaining will be deleted.
10. Complaints
If you're unhappy with our service, please contact [email protected] in the first instance. You may also write to us at MTDLite Team, Tricept Limited, Imperial House, Harley Place, Bristol BS8 3JT.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified to account holders by email before they take effect.
